I Bought this scope in 2016. The tube assembly is a good scope but stay away from the AVX mount. The gears started clicking after about 3 months which caused the stars to jump around in the eyepiece. I returned the scope to Celestron for repairs and it was returned. Within a couple months it began clicking again. Again I returned it to Celestron. Again they repaired it but after it was returned it began clicking again. Celestron finally agreed to replace the mount head with a new one. After receiving a new mount head it began clicking causing motion so severe as to render astrophotography impossible. I finally looked on the internet to see if others were having this issue. Surprise! I found numerous other customers complaining about the same issue. By now the scope out of warranty. Celestron agreed to make a repair anyway but what good will that do? Non of their repairs have lasted beyond 6 months. Finally called Celestron and requested information on how to make the repairs and they refused to provide any information. Before you think I’m a disgruntled nut job. I’m 66 and have been an Amateur astronomer since I was 12 years old. I’ve owned other equatorial mounts for 12 years without issue. So in my opinion purchase the 9.25OTA but stay away from the AVX

Don't wait another minute, if you've been contemplating this scope.The optics and clarity are amazing.The Advanced VX mount is a joy. I might suggest the SkyPortal W-Fi Module, it makes alignment and controlling the mount so much easier. If you are not well versed in alignment I might also suggest the Star Sense Camera. The VX mount has two auxiliary ports to support multiple devices as well as a port for an autoguider.First night it rained as soon as I had unboxed and assembled the scope and mount so I just familiarized myself with the hand controller.Second day the skies cleared about 1 hour before dark and the viewing was unbelievable. Like a lot of people my last scope was a department store (that really shows my age) special, you know the ones 60mm objective refractor 600x, never really saw anything but the moon with that one. Wow is this different. Stars were bright and round, Then I happened across Saturn. I can't believe how clear the image was in the eyepiece, even though it was just above the horizon, Clear resolution of the Cassini Division.I've become an excited amateur astronomer, eagerly anticipating my next opportunity to find new wonders to observe.I have since added the SkyPortal WIFI Module and I am really looking forward to trying it out.
