This is great for 1.8" Micro-SATA SSD. I placed an Intel 60gb unit in one of these and it made a fantastic portable drive.The case is well made. The included screwdriver makes installation a snap. There is even a little carrying pouch. While the pouch is nice, it is overkill.

The connection to the harddrive does not fit the connector inside this SATA item. Not their fault. We were given the wrong advice by an Apple store in Sweden to buy this one when over here. Regards

I bought this to use in upgrading the hard drive of my Thinkpad T410s to a Crucial SSD. I tried to use it to clone the original disk to the SSD using 3 different software packages without success. Two gave disk errors when trying to access the drive in the StarTech enclosure. The third package began cloning but failed with repeated IO errors about 30 minutes into the process. The enclosure LED would blink even when the drive wasn't being accessed and Windows 7 would no longer recognize the device at all (even after rebooting).The problems were all due to the enclosure, not the Crucial SSD. I eventually gave up, cloned the drive to a standard USB drive, swapped the SSD for the hard drive, and cloned the SSD from the USB drive (all using Clonezilla). Those steps worked smoothly and without any problems all. The SSD is now in the computer and functioning perfectly.The bottom line is that StarTech enclosure (at least the unit I had) was terrible.

Bottom line: would recommend to a friend. Works.Product arrived quickly and was easy to install. Placed a 250G drive in the unit. The aluminum top/bottom is very thin and seems to dissipate heat well. It will not hold up to crush force (nor is it designed to). The plastic sides are a bit sharp from the molding process. Quick hit with sand paper to smooth it out.While I would enjoy a stronger case for throwing in a bag or other (I'm a bit rough on my equipment); this feels like it will holdup over time and I like he included sleeve. It's light weight and I'm sure you will like it as well. Ascetics are ok.

The product works well and was easy to assemble. I'm getting reasonable transfer speeds and the small size is a definite plus.However, the current price seems a bit excessive.
