App for Bulb rarely works. Alexa integration virtually never works.

The “HomeKit” compatibility is false advertising. You are required to have your iPhone nearby for these bulbs to work. I have a HomePod & 2 AppleTVs nearby as hubs and the bulbs only work with the phone nearby. So forget any scenes being trigger if you leave or arrive because your phone isn’t close enough to the bulb when you enter the area. Thus not allowing you to utilize the true power oh HomeKit. False advertising wast of money.

I use this with Apple’s HomeKit. It just works. It literally took me 20 seconds to set it up, by simply putting the bulb’s code into my iPhone and then done. I have no idea how they could make it easier.I have quite a number of home automation devices - thermostats, bulbs, outlets, cameras, and sensors. This guy works as well as the best of them. My Apple TV works as my HomeKit hub, and it’s exactly as far away from this bulb as possible within my home. It works 100% reliably. I’ll definitely be buying more.UPDATE! OK, four years in now, and I have three of these smart bulbs. First, the good part: All are still working. We use them every day that someone is at home, easily surpassing 25000 hours per bulb. They look and work as good as they did on their first day. They have lasted longer than many of my name-brand "smart outlets". These Sylvania bulbs continue to be excellent.

Tried following the instructions. Seem likes the instruction included are out-dated as of 2026. I have several other SYLVANIA smart lights so assumed it would be easy. Boy was I wrong. I needed a completely different app that seems to be obsolete. All it does is upgrade the firmware. Confusing because it mentions working with Apple HomeKit and couldn’t get it to pair. Tried the app I already had and that didn’t work. Downloaded the mention app and it worked but the instruction were misleading. Eventually I just used the Alexa app to discover and pair the light. That seemed to work. I’m glad I just got one and it’s for a closet. This was more frustrating than necessary. I thought about returning it, but since it works I’ll keep it. It’s just a white bulb and the brightness is good. Got it setup with Alexa and that works well. But the process isn’t worth it! Wouldn’t recommend.

Screw in the bulb, open HomeKit, scan the code on the booklet, done. It just works!On the other hand, you have the SylvaniaSmart Wifi app. I didn’t see an option in HomeKit to check for a firmware update so I wanted to use the app. The configuration process doesn’t work for me. There’s a reset procedure that should make the bulb flash continuously but mine only flashes a few times. The sylvania wifi never appears so I can’t connect to it with the app.I’m really not sure how HomeKit works so perfectly. The app says the bulb requires 2.4ghz wifi but I only have 5ghz.
