The device itself appears to be decent quality. Unfortunately, it can't be tested because the software doesn't work, there is no help for getting any, and I'm not risking viruses to my PC trying to locate one that may or may not also be corrupt.My Review Criteria: I do not review anything that I don't want/need for my own personal use and I have enough knowledge about it to provide accurate and useful details. I do tell it like it is and I am not influenced to provide feedback that isn't based on facts or my own experience. Therefore you can trust my unbiased review as if I were a friend looking out for your best interest and that of your hard-earned money.

This is not quite as sturdy as I would prefer but that’s also what makes it lightweight and easy to carry. Using a PC, I was able to download the driver and instructions, then start photographing/scanning with it. The light could be brighter, that’s probably my main complaint. In a room with soft, non-direct lighting, I’ve definitely had to supplement with other light to make sure documents show up bright enough to.

I don’t understand why some reviewers were having problems with the setup of this scanner! It’s an easy download from NetumScan website! Just ignore your computer’s security warnings and bam it’s there ready to scan! Just make sure original is”squared up” fairly close and fee of wrinkles…it picks up everything! Even if you are a little off on having it squared up, this thing will straighten it out automatically! Nice scanner and much faster than my old bed type scanner that took forever to set up, do a review scan and then scan. Much, much faster!

To say this scanner is junk would not be accurate because it does make a good paperweight. However, if you want to use it for scanning or projecting then please look elsewhere for those needs. The product provides a USB with software. My software did not work. I managed to get the correct software. Once I did, I tested the product. The scans and projection were grainy at best and at worst the scans came out nearly black, particularly scans of pages that were darker. And this was so even when I adjusted the settings with the software. The scans made it seems like I was using it in a dark room even though I had every light on and the light from the scanner. My old phone camera scans better than this "scanner". This "scanner" is now just a paperweight on my desk.

This scanner is indeed portable, easily fitting into a backpack, which is quite nice for someone who needs to scan on the go or for someone like me who needs a compact and lightweight product that won't take up too much space and can be easily stored in a small apartment.The scanner employs a camera-based scanning mechanism and comes with proprietary scanning software. The overall quality of the scans is good when considering the combination of the software and hardware.As someone who just knows the basics but usually doesn't have a problem making this kind of product work, I found this scanner particularly annoying to set up. It took me a lot longer than expected to make it work, and I had to ask for help from my husband, who actually works in tech.The software is only compatible with Windows, and it is flagged by Windows Defender as being from an unverified publisher. This raises some concerns and requires extra installation steps, which is a bit unsettling. Unfortunately, I found that it's not compatible with macOS. When connected to a Mac, the device is only recognized as a camera, and none of the third-party software I tried could fully utilize its scanning capabilities.The camera quality itself is somewhat of a mystery. The images tend to be darker than expected outside of the proprietary software, requiring intense lighting to get a decent scan, which often results in glare, and the 3P software wasn't able to use the proper resolution for it, resulting in distorted images. Aligning the scanner with the accompanying mat is also a bit of a hassle, as it mostly relies on guesswork rather than a precise alignment system. The software does compensate a bit for this, but you end up trading a bit of quality for it.A notable downside is the lack of wireless capability. Given that many modern scanners offer this feature, and considering I can scan documents with my phone without needing a computer, this feels like a missed opportunity, especially for a device that prides itself on portability. Compared to using my phone's camera with specialized scanning software, I didn't notice a significant difference in quality.Overall, the product is good, providing portability and good-quality scans. However, the software requires some improvement, especially since it's necessary for the scanner to function properly, considering the computer can't natively recognize the scanner.
