i ordered the 2mm/18"/black cord, offered at a tad under eight bucks otd. that's probably what they're going for these days --rather than the three or four i was used to in my day (a looong time ago; lol).to me, it's as described, pictured --and expected. i have no way of knowing if it's made out of leather or plastic or pleather, or anything else. i also have no reason to doubt the seller's description, stating that it's made of leather.if you're looking for something fancy, this is just what the listing title states: a "cord" --it's not 'jewelry'. and at just 2mm, neither does it suggest "leather" in its appearance to the naked eye. and that seems pretty normal to me.it's not a cord you'd use to wear any kind of serious jewelry (e.g., you wouldn't attach a small, 18-carat solid gold medallion). if someone paired it with a medallion, it would likely be an inexpensive one, for instance made out of plastic or wood, or copper at best. this is for fun and for leisure times, not for a white house cabinet meeting or as job interview neckware.i'm using it for a little tibetan 'om mani padme om' amulet, which is a piece of (rough) wood less than an inch long, with the letters crudely hand-painted on, in white paint. i bought it in india or nepal, for some amount under fifty cents. you could easily get it here too, probably for the princely sum of around 2.99$ or so.anyway, the point is that it's ultracasual and uber-chillaxed. it's the next level up from a nice and well trimmed length of twine, with a 10-cent metal clasp attached at the ends.it's exactly what i wanted and needed, so i'm just recommending that you be sure the same holds true for you, too.:)
