Satellite radio rocks!!

My new car came with on board Sirius XM service. My older car was jealous and wanted to have a wider variety of music to please its owner. Satellite radio is clear and provides a lot more variety than regular radio. I was planning a few long road trips and instead of having local radio stations fade in and out I enjoyed continuous, uninterrupted music. This unit was easy to install and even though the instruction indicates that the antenna should be roof mounted, I decided to try placing it on my dash near the windshield. Perfect reception!!!!

Good product. It works great.. I suggest downloading the manual from SiriusXM. It is very good and is a big help in setting up the radio. This kit has an antenna with a cable long enough to reach into my attic. It all works. Great audio..

I turned off my Wifi permanently, replacing it with ethernet connections for my computer and TV (I use Firestick with an ethernet adapter for TV) after going down the rabbit hole of EMF risks.I wanted to listen to music through my low end, kinda old Bose Wave radio, but couldn’t figure out a way to get mostly ad free music of a particular genre (jazz for me ) without Wifi.In my Wifi days I’d just stream music from Pandora or Spotify on my iPhone and use an aux cable to connect the phone to the Bose, but obviously that wasn’t an option for me without a Wifi connection to stream music on the phone (Actually I’d gotten rid of the smartphone anyway in my efforts in the direction of digital minimalism so I had neither a smartphone nor a wifi connection).I considered streaming music on my Mac (which is connected to internet with an ethernet cable ) and using an auxiliary cable to connect the Mac to the the old Bose, but I use my Mac for everything, and am always changing locations with it, so I didn’t want to be attached to the radio with an aux cable.I’m just explaining my exact gear and thought process in case anyone else is tech challenged like me and trying to figure out the same issue.Oh also - I live out in the middle of nowhere and get only one station consistently on regular FM radio - a country station - so as I considered options for music, one of the many unknowns was whether I could even get satellite radio stations out here (again, I’m tech challenged, and did not understand signal strength of satellite versus regular am/fm and all that nonsense).Anyway! Enter the Sirius radio with home kit. I took the plunge. Set up is easy. Directions spell it out. You will NEED to connect the Sirius& home kit to speakers (NOT included!) to listen to music. Just emphasizing this because, again, this wasn’t obvious to me.Anyway after getting the Sirius plugged in and sitting in the HomeKit dock, I connected it to my old radio Bose Wave radio using an aux to aux cable; you may need to make sure you have one of these if you intend to use a wired connection between the Sirius and the system you’ll listen to the Sirius through. I think you can use bluetooth to connect instead, but my Bose Wave doesn’t even have Bluetooth capability - so check if your radio/speakers do if that’s how you intend to connect your stereo system/speakers to the Sirius.Once the Sirius is powered on and everything, the screen will prompt you to do next steps - you have to create a Sirius account online, choose the subscription you want (I think the radio included a cheap or free one for a few months when I bought mine), and there is a period of 30 minutes to an hour between finishing this process and getting music. I got super frustrated because I thought I’d done something wrong in this interval, and would have to get in touch w customer service, but thankfully that wasn’t the case.Look online at the channel guide to figure out what you want to listen to; if you haven’t used satellite radio before there’s a little learning curve with figuring out the stations and the remote.Anyway I love the Sirius so much. Having round the clock music is a game changer for my mood. I’m so much happier! The signal is great. I’ve had zero issues.I highly recommend this product!

This is a good satellite radio that is a great satellite radio with a few additions. The radio itself has a full color display, can store up to 20 preset channels, and can rewind and replay live satellite radio. The radio can be played through an existing radio using an AUX cable or by using the built-in FM transmitter. I play mine using the built-in FM transmitter which works flawlessly once you locate an unused FM frequency. I leave the car mount in my car and remove the satellite radio and store it and a remote control in a No Snooping Allowed Faraday Bag (2 Pack), RFID Signal Blocking Bag Shielding Pouch Wallet Case (sold on Amazon) when not in use.The Onyx comes a car installation kit, however I purchased a different mount than the self-adhesive mount included in the kit. I opted for a Low Profile Drinks Cup Holder Mount for Sirius XM Onyx Plus from Charger City sold on Amazon. It provides a really good grip in any cup holder and securely holds the Sirius XM Onyx in place.The installation instructions for the Onyx Plus recommends mounting the antenna outside the vehicle. Unless you are a professional installer, most people are not up to the task or thrilled about routing the antenna wire through moulding and weatherstripping in order to mount the antenna outside the vehicle. Not that I couldn't do it, but my biggest concern is the antenna getting damaged or tampered with and having to go through the whole installation process again. The Car Windshield Suction Cup Antenna Mount for Sirius / XM Radio from MFX2 sold on Amazon is a great alternative which provides a neat and professional looking way to mount the antenna inside your vehicle. The suction cup on this antenna mount provides a strong hold and the magnetic strips included with the mount do a great job holding the antenna in place. In most areas I get full signal strength, including the rural area in which I live. I recently traveled from Virginia to the U.P. of Michigan and back and had excellent reception most of the trip.I also bought a SXIR2 Universal Remote Control fit for SiriusXM Onyx Plus from PERFASCIN sold on Amazon. The remote works perfectly with Onyx Plus.The Onyx Plus is a nice package for anyone looking to add satellite radio to an existing vehicle or for anyone wanting to be able to move the radio from one vehicle to another. I recommend another vehicle mounting kit, a cup mount, and windshield antenna mount if you plan to move the radio from one vehicle to another. Sirius offers several introductory priced subscription packages and also offers a student and military discount.

Simplemente es excelente, cabe mencionar que se tiene que activar con una dirección de Estados Unidos ya que no se puede realizar la activación en otro país.

First and foremost be warned it will NOT WORK with only a Sirius subscription!! You will need to add the Sirius XM package in order for it to work.That said this is a great little radio, very simple to install depending on how you want it displayed in your vehicle, probably took me 15mins. I have it attached to my vents. The screen is really beautiful & colorful - has some great display options, but not too many. It also has 2 rows of programming available, which is awesome if you split you listening time between talk radio & music like I do.There isn’t a favorite button (which I miss) however there is a option that works like a shuffle for all the stations you have programmed on one row. I haven’t found it very useful, it probably would be for long trips. I does have the pause option and I’ve had this on other models and again, I just don’t find it to be a useful function overall. My radio turns off when I turn off my car and I’m not in the habit of letting it run when I’m not in it. I’m sure someone out there finds it great, maybe if you take a call? I don’t talk on the phone and drive so, there’s that.In the end I’m giving this 4 stars due to the fact it really wasn’t crystal clear what this was for and NOT for and caused me such problems getting it hooked up. Otherwise, I love it!!
